BIO
Teddy Paz lives in Middlesex, NJ. He is in his second year at Raritan Valley Community College and is majoring in Digitial Media/Film Studies. He is planning to transfer to Mason Gross School of the Arts after the spring semester. He directed and wrote his first movie in 2020, which helped him improve his editing skill and storytelling in his later films. Teddy’s expertise is in directing, video editing, and cinematography. His career goal is to develop intriguing stories with compelling and lovable characters that people can relate to and look up to. He wants viewers to understand the messages of his stories, by showing different aspects of life and symbolism. Tom Delonge is a strong influence on Teddy as a filmmaker and storyteller. Tom is an American musician, singer, author, and filmmaker. Teddy draws inspiration as a filmmaker from Tom’s storytelling in his music and books. He wants to incorporate other strong influences in his life through his films. Teddy believes that to improve himself as a filmmaker, he must build relationships with others, help other students by acting or filming their films, and puts in the work and effort the same as he would when filming his own films. This helps boost his ambition to become a better filmmaker by helping other students with their films.
STATEMENT
One of my inspirations in creating media was my friends. Each time I was with my group of friends I remember thinking to myself how I wanted to make short films. Each of my friends has a very different personality and traits that match well with each other’s chemistry. I knew immediately I wanted to make a documentary about one of my friend's life. So I created the documentary “DownBad” which is about my friend Daniel’s life as my first film for a school final. Ever since then I’ve wanted to create films that are entertaining, comedic, and enjoyable to everyone. I want my audience to laugh and smile as they watch my films to help them escape from reality. When I approach creating new projects I want to show my originality through the story and characters, but more importantly, wanting to show my imaginative mind visually on the big screen. The messages I show through my films are different in each one because I want to share my experiences in life that could help give advice to the audience. In my documentary “DownBad” and my narrative film “Los 3 Amigos: Finding The Middlesex Voyuer” the message of those films is about how everyone should live life to the fullest and not constantly stressed about the future. These are the kind of messages I want to expand in my films but also provide advice in life from personal experience.
