BIO
Andy Tonato is a young aspiring filmmaker who attends RVCC as a Digital Media/ Film Studies major. With this degree, he plans on transferring to complete his bachelor’s in film. Earning the degree will allow him to further pursue his passion. While studying, he also balances schoolwork with a part-time job to fund his projects and purchase equipment. This limits how much time he must work on personal projects. Despite that, he continues to push through. His plan after completing his studies is to create films that express his creative processes. His whimsical and optimistic personality, as well as his versatile skills, aid in his endeavors. Besides his ability to work in film, behind the scenes he is a friendly and sociable person. He is confident and desires to learn and apply what he is taught.
STATEMENT
When it comes to my work, I am in the beginning of my career and am learning and growing my skills with each new project. From a young age I was inspired by old films, which is what motivated me to study film. Only recently when I started college is where I began my hands-on work to utilize what I learned. Ultimately, when I engage in working on my projects, I take much pride in my work and collaborate with others seriously. When the motivation and excitement strike, I brainstorm ideas and the logistics of my projects. Creating film and video allows me to get focus-driven and makes me excited to see the result. I want my audience to feel engaged by what’s going on in the film. In the end, seeing others’ reactions to my projects is important to me and makes them worth creating. I’ve worked in various genres including documentaries and narrative films, while also producing personal video projects such as my drone videos and school projects. In all my work, I want to incorporate a signature style in my films.
