BIO
Terrance Leon George II is a rising filmmaker who has ambitions of changing the world. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, Terrance is a hurricane Katrina survivor. It’s because of this event that he now resides in New Jersey. Terrance first learned how to be a filmmaker in his high school videography class. He was inspired from watching his uncle’s old tapes that he had filmed over the course of his life. Having a speech impediment, it was in his films that Terrance was able to find his voice and become the artist he is today! He is currently completing his associate degree in film and plans to transfer to receive a bachelor’s degree.

STATEMENT
My work covers a very wide range of themes and emotions. I have made a cynical film about me disappearing and killing myself and have made an upbeat documentary about special needs children. I have made music videos with modern rappers and a sweet poetic video. My videos represent my life. Themes that show up in my work are loneliness, abandonment, and rejection. I believe that I shouldn’t be limited so in a sense my films are me expressing my creative freedom whether it be humorous or scary. I am grateful. I am inspired by Jordan Peele and Quentin Tarantino because of their fearless filmmaking style and the way they frame their shots. As an African American I feel like too many films are filled with political propaganda and ignorance to the point that there’s no real art anymore. I want a sense of strong realism while also finding ways to be lighthearted or comedic. I hope to someday make my own TV series for Netflix, or a steaming platform, and to create movies for each genre.
