STATEMENT
My influences and inspiration come from both my imagination and what I see around me. Most often, my inspirations and influences are generated by my mood, social issues that I feel need to be addressed, a memory of the past, or a futuristic idea of what I think my art should expand upon. I create the work I do because I want to tell the stories and address issues that are familiar to humanity.
One of the projects in my reel that came from my mood is how to make bake and salted fish, and the second project that was birthed from an extremely well known social issue is a documentary that addresses the prevalence of homelessness, its causes and the impact that it has on the individuals that live on the streets in New York.

Bake and salted fish is a famous dish in the county of Guyana, located in South America. I like to cook, so I decided to shoot a video showing how to make this dish. This video illustrates the various ingredients needed and the steps that go into creating such a delicious cuisine. The lighting, sound and preparation of ingredients were all done a certain way so that the video has the most impact on the viewer. The close-up shots and the camera angles were all designed to create an exotic and appealing tone to the story.

Homelessness affects a vast majority of people from all demographics and social statuses. Thus, I was compelled to explore the different ways in which it affects the individuals who are homeless. This documentary was very personal to me, because at one point in my life, I never had a stable place of residence. That being said, my personal conviction to be a voice for the homeless led me to create a documentary that shows the struggles that are associated with being homeless. These struggles include sleeping on the streets in sleeping bags, being exposed to cold weather during the winter, with no means of getting heat and warmth, lack of finance and having no food to eat. The footage showed an authentic depiction of how the homeless sleep, how they sometimes have to beg for food and money, and also the generosity of persons that show empathy to the homeless.
