BIO
Benjamin Rayner lives by prospering, enjoying, imagination, happiness, immersion and triumph.

He seizes and is in the current no matter what. Ben acts on opportunities in life, and doesn’t just sit there with complacency. His goals include being a director of films, living in New York City, but before all those attending Rutgers. An event that shaped his life is when he broke his elbow at three years old. Despite being so young the moment is remembered clearly. That horrific moment told him he is not invincible. Another key moment was making his first short film, which showed him that anything is really possible. Lastly, is the heartbreaking moment when his father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which forced Ben to get tougher. These experiences, good and bad, motivated him, pushing Ben to write more creatively and film differently with a more spontaneous approach. This had helped him gain an overall better understanding of the working of film, writing, creativity, and just what he wants to make.

STATEMENT

Themes in my work include loneliness, self-fulfillment, what could be, corruption and greed. I present these themes in order for the audience to think more about themselves and what improvements could be made to their lives. After watching one of my films the audience should be analyzing the details and scenes that they just viewed. Most importantly, I want them to take away enjoyment from my films, so they have a great experience as well as keeping their minds focused and thinking. I make films to express my stories and ideas. The aim of each film is to bring in new people each time in order for my audience to be different and varied for each project. Viewers should take away a sense of craftsmanship behind the filmmaking and look at the world differently after a viewing of my films. Overall, the work I make will be viewed as an experience rather than just a film, something people come back to and even see differently on next viewing.
