BIO
Caitlin Mangan grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, surrounded by the arts – and more specifically, music. She was given many great opportunities to flourish as a singer and artist, training her voice by participating in numerous choirs and theatre productions. This love of the arts continued when she moved to Hunterdon County, New Jersey, in 2010, and for a while she pursued vocal music education at a higher level. However, passions changed, and Caitlin found herself drawn more to the technical side of music, enjoying the processes of making and mixing cover songs. She returned to school in 2016 to pursue a digital film degree, and when the associate degree is complete she will transfer to a degree in audio production. She enjoys the process of learning new ways to mix and master audio, and would love to one day work in film or TV on an audio editing team.
STATEMENT
My work thus far has been very audio-centric – a trend I plan to continue moving forward. In the first narrative film I ever worked on, I spent hours adjusting and remixing until the balances were just right, which is a process that some might find tedious, but I find highly enjoyable. While I am currently pursuing an associate degree in Digital Film, I plan to transfer upon graduating and pursue a bachelor’s in Audio Production or something similar. The ultimate goal is to work on the audio team for films or TV shows. I feel that oftentimes the audio is overlooked, or not given the amount of care and attention that it deserves, but whole scenes can be changed depending on the audio mixing. Audiences deserve both the aural and visual impact of the experience of film, and that is something I intend to create.
